How to earn money online as a freelancer, espeically a freelancer with a website?

make money as freelancer

You will be surprised to find that freelancers are growing rapidly in recent years with the development of the Internet. Are you thinking about making the jump from being a "traditionally employed" to being a freelance? and Are you a freelance looking for ways to boost your income and better leverage your skillset? In this article, I'm going to share some of good ways to make money with your own website.

The first thing you should do: build a website for your freelancer business. Research shows that freelancers who have a professional website can charge as much as 65% more an hour than those without one. That's a pretty substantial bump in pay for anyone! And all it takes is having a professional-looking website. Then I will explain how to prepare a web site and what conditions you need for your site.

What should the website include?
You should create a few pages for your site to help potential clients get to know you and your experience.
Home Page:
On your home page, you should provide an overview of the services you can offer. Keep in mind that some people won't visit any other page except this page, so you want to attract them here, and then go more in-depth to other pages.

About Page:
On your about page, you can explain more of your professional experience. How long have you done this sort of work? Which verticals do you have experience in (retail? banking? medical?)? You can also share some personal details to show a softer side.

Services Page:
Then, on your services page, specify the services you provide. You may have listed this information on your home page, but here you can explain more. If you offer packages, please list. It's up to you whether you list prices or not. Many freelancers choose not to so they can customize quotes, but if you don't list them, you may waste time talking to someone you can't afford.

Contact Page:
Finally, have a contact page or include contact details at the bottom or side of each page. Make it easy for people to connect with you via phone, email, or any other social media contacts.

Besides, it may also be useful to have a blog for your website. This is your chance to show off your expertise, talk about projects, and provide tips to readers. Blogs can also help your website gain more traffic and bring more clients.

Getting started to create a website
Usually we think it takes a lot of money to create an independent website, if you think that a website will cost you thousands of dollars, you're wrong. You can DIY the WordPress based topics free of charge or, if you're only a bit of technical know-how (not many, I guarantee), you can be less than $100.

Except for WordPress, you can choose other website creator tool like Wix or SquareSpace, Wix has free services, but you can get a premium package starting around $12-17 a month for either, which includes being able to update your site, and the web hosting. In fact, I would recommend WordPress more.

How to recommend your own website
Once you have your own freelancer website, when you make a bid for the project or your freelancer information, be sure to include a link to it. If you are asked to display samples of your work, please link directly to the portfolio page. You should also include it in your social media information, and link to one of your projects from time to time, showing your followers what you can do.
